  • What is a Segway Tour?
  • When we say Segway Tour, we mean that we are going to tour downtown Asheville with all of the participants riding a Segway i2! It is an unforgettable way to tour a large area.  Please ignore all of the flashbulbs going off while you tour the city as you may become an instant celebrity!

  • Can I rent a Segway without a guide?
  • No. We do not rent our Segways out to individuals without a guide.

  • What are the operating hours for Moving Sidewalk Tours?
  • We will be operating daily with tours beginning at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. & 5 p.m. Pick the time that best suits you.

  • What is your weather cancellation policy?
  • A tour can be canceled if the weather is severe. Most weather conditions are fine, with heavy rain, lightning, and snow being the exceptions. When making a reservation, leave a cell number or hotel contact info for us to keep in touch and up to date with the status of your tour. The guide reserves the right to cancel or begin each tour in every condition. If a tour is canceled due to weather, we can reschedule the tour for a later date.

  • How far in advance do I need to reserve my tour?
  • With the high volume of reservations and small group size (maximum of five riders), it is advised that you reserve your tour as soon as possible.

  • How do I reserve a spot on the tour?
  • Book online! Click “Book Your Tour” in the top right corner, or visit our “Downtown Asheville Tour” page.

  • What are the physical requirements for riding a Segway PT?
  • You must be able to climb a flight of stairs unassisted without a handrail, weigh between 100 and 260 pounds, and stand upright for long periods of time. Riders must be at least 10 years old. You must pass the rider certification training and the guide holds the right to deny some participants.

  • What is a Segway PT?
  • The Segway Personal Transporter is a one-of-a-kind, self-balancing personal transportation device designed to go anywhere people do. Easy to use and operate, the two-wheeled PT sports high-tech gyroscopes that monitor your balance and automatically respond to your body’s movements. Riders can glide smoothly along as the PT senses where you want to go.

  • How long does the tour last?
  • Each tour lasts two hours which includes 20 to 30 minutes of training.

  • What should I wear for the tour?
  • Wear something that you will be comfortable standing in for up to two and a half hours, i.e.; Comfortable closed toe flat shoes (no high heels or sandals), Jacket and gloves for cooler days, and shorts for warmer ones.

  • Will a helmet be provided for us?
  • Yes, a helmet will be provided for you free of charge. Feel free to bring your own bicycle or snowboarding helmet.

  • Are Segway PTs safe for children or people with disabilities?
  • Riding a Segway PT is one of the most fun and safest ways to move about, but no one was born riding one. We allow riders aged 10 and up and all are required to participate in the training session. PTs are not for everyone, so if you are concerned about mobility issues please call us to discuss. We will practice on the Segways until everyone feels comfortable and ready to tour.

  • Can I purchase a Segway PT from Moving Sidewalk Tours?
  • Yes, you can! We can sell you one of our tour machines or refer you to a dealer for a new machine. Why not have this much fun everyday!? See your guide for pricing information.

  • How many riders can a tour take at a time?
  • We have a total of SIX Segways. ONE for the guide, FIVE for the guests.

  • What can I bring along with my tour?
  • Each Segway PT comes with a handlebar storage bag for cameras, light jackets, and purses. Please do not bring bulky backpacks with you.

  • How can I pay for my tour?
  • You can pay when you arrive or over the phone. We accept ALL credit cards or CASH. You will also be asked to hold the reservation with a credit card.

  • Is there a cancellation policy?
  • Yes, you can cancel two days before the scheduled tour. If you cancel within the 48 hours of your tour’s start time, you will be charged the full price of the tour. Please help us out by letting us know ASAP if you need to cancel or reschedule.

  • Will there be an opportunity to stop for refreshments while on the tour?
  • Yes, we can stop at a local cafe for coffee, water, snacks, and restroom breaks.

  • Are reservations required?
  • Yes, though walk-ins are welcome if there is space on the tour.
